How and Why does Medicare Compare Hospices?

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) uses family surveys to help “grade” hospices across the nation. This comparison is designed to make it easier for consumers to find the right care for themselves or their loved ones. See Medicare.gov/hospicecompare.

Surveys are sent to every primary caregiver of hospice patients in the Nation after their loved one passes. The 47 questions on the surveys are grouped into eight different categories which are reported on the CMS website. Hospice Care of Middletown tops all hospices in Ohio on 7 of these 8 measures. When all eight measures are totaled, our score is #1 in the state of Ohio and in the top 10 in the entire Nation. See scores for May, 2023 at links below.

Why is this important? CMS wants you to have as much information as possible about your healthcare providers so you can find the right care when you need it most.
