In 1995 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) began the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS). CAHPS was set up in response to concerns about the lack of good information regarding the quality of care from the enrollees' perspective. This survey-based assessment program began publishing results in 2008 (for hospitals only).

In 2015, CMS began sending surveys to caregivers of hospice patients two months after their loved ones passed and in 2022, hospices across the Nation started receiving the results of those surveys.

As a result of CAHPS, Hospice Care of Middletown has been recognized for the outstanding care they’ve been providing for over 40 years.

The findings from the May, 2024 family/caregiver surveys were recently released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Hospice Care of Middletown ranked at the very top of all 157 hospices in Ohio. We are also in the top ten hospices in the Nation. To say we’re humbled and proud would be an understatement.

Hospice Care of Middletown has received a 5-Star Rating, recognizing exceptional care

As a quick reference when researching care, CMS rates hospices with 1 to 5 stars with 1 star being the lowest and 5 stars the highest.

Hospice Care of Middletown is the ONLY 5-Star hospice in Southwest Ohio.
